Pakistan Indonesia defence talks in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Indonesia’s Defence Minister Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retd) met Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, at General Headquarters to review regional security developments and bilateral defence relations.

The discussion covered regional and global security dynamics, with both sides agreeing on the need to strengthen cooperation through institutional engagement, joint training initiatives and defence industry collaboration.

The visiting minister commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their professionalism and contributions to counter-terrorism efforts, and conveyed Indonesia’s desire to broaden defence cooperation with Pakistan.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, the COAS said Islamabad remains committed to deepening defence relations with Indonesia, guided by shared strategic interests and long-standing mutual respect.
