KARACHI: The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Karachi, in coordination with Pakistan Rangers, carried out an intelligence-based operation in the Al-Asif area of Sohrab Goth, leading to the seizure of smuggled goods valued at approximately Rs20 million, officials said on Thursday.

The operation was conducted as part of ongoing efforts to curb smuggling activities in the city. Officials said three Mazda truckloads of foreign-origin goods were recovered during the raid.
Cigarettes, gutka and consumer items seized
According to authorities, the seized items included smuggled cigarettes, gutka, sheesha flavor, niswar, foreign-brand cosmetics, toiletries, dairy products, beverages, and other consumer goods.
The recovery included 4,859 sticks of cigarettes, 258 sticks of sheesha flavor, 2,375 packets of gutka, and 57 packets of niswar, along with large quantities of imported food items and personal care products.
Seized goods taken into custody
Officials said all recovered goods have been taken into official custody. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969.
Investigation underway to trace suspects
Authorities said further investigation is in progress to identify and apprehend individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
