Rawalpindi: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff, was presented with a tri-services guard of honour at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday following the formal institution of his additional appointment as Chief of Defence Forces.
Tri-services leadership attends GHQ ceremony
The ceremony at GHQ was attended by Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff, and Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, along with senior military officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Chief of Defence Forces addresses officers on recent conflict
While addressing officers from all three services, the Chief of Defence Forces referred to the conduct of Pakistan’s armed forces and the nation during the recent conflict referred to as Marka-e-Haq. He described the military operations during the conflict as an example that would be studied in future war doctrine.
He also paid tribute to personnel who lost their lives during the hostilities.
Focus on joint operations and future warfare domains
The Chief of Defence Forces highlighted the need for a structured framework for integration among the three services. He stated that future warfare would involve operations across multiple domains including cyber space, the electromagnetic spectrum, outer space, information operations, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.
He said the establishment of the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters would serve as a central platform for coordination and joint operational planning.
Awards presented to Navy and Air Force personnel
The ceremony also included the presentation of awards to personnel of the Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force for actions carried out during the Marka-e-Haq conflict.
