Islamabad: The Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to a simple and efficient justice system during a national consultative workshop in Islamabad. The workshop focused on Pakistan’s Unified E-Court reform efforts and brought together senior judicial leadership, Registrars of all High Courts, the Supreme Court’s IT Wing, and officials from the Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA).

Judicial leaders review digital readiness

The meeting, organised by the Pakistan Digital Authority, aimed to align federal and provincial judicial bodies on a national digital framework for courts across the country.

PDA outlines digital transformation plans

PDA Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir briefed participants on the Authority’s mandate under the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025, and announced the creation of the Judicial Innovation Lab to support digital reforms in the justice sector.

Unified E-Court agenda presented by Supreme Court IT Wing

The Supreme Court’s IT Wing shared the National E-Court Reforms Agenda, highlighting current systems, digitisation needs, and structural challenges. High Court Registrars presented updates on case management systems, IT infrastructure and district court connectivity, noting areas that require harmonisation under a unified approach.

Digital governance trends shared by PDA members

PDA Founding Member Mohammad Jameel Sear discussed the global shift toward digital governance, citing the rapid expansion of the digital economy and the need for justice sector institutions to adapt.

Working sessions identify reform priorities

Participants engaged in working sessions to examine citizen-facing court processes, future-state procedures, and principles for a unified national digital justice architecture.

Next steps for the Unified E-Court initiative

PDA stated it will continue collaborating with the Supreme Court, High Courts and other institutions to support implementation of the National E-Court Reforms Agenda and advance Pakistan’s digital justice transition.
