A new study reveals that artificial intelligence (AI) could potentially replace up to 70% of computer-based jobs.
Experts from the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) have warned that AI may have potentially dangerous effects on the economy and society, particularly on tasks that rely heavily on computers.
According to IPPR’s latest report, AI is likely to significantly transform jobs related to project management, marketing, and administrative support.
The think tank analyzed 22,000 common human-performed tasks, finding that 70% of computer-based tasks could be either replaced or significantly altered by AI.
IPPR also noted that current AI policies focus excessively on technology adoption and ensuring safety, while failing to fully consider AI’s broader economic and societal implications.
The report further states that AI’s biggest impact will likely be on organizational, strategic, and analytical tasks.
