A 1915 silent film about America’s 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, which was believed to be lost forever, has recently been found.
The silent film on Abraham Lincoln was discovered in a warehouse on Long Island, New York.
Dan Martin, an intern at Historic Films Archive in Greenport, revealed that while sorting through donation boxes in the archive’s warehouse, he came across the only surviving copy of The Heart of Lincoln, a silent film about the life of the 16th U.S. president.
He stated that for someone studying film preservation, this discovery is one of the most valuable treasures that could be found among old films.
The Heart of Lincoln was listed by the Library of Congress among nearly 7,000 silent films that were believed to be completely lost over time.
