Concerns Over Sensitive Data Theft Through Wi-Fi

In light of growing concerns over the potential theft of sensitive information through Wi-Fi or wireless networks, wireless routers have been classified as vulnerable devices. The Cabinet Division has issued a notice, urging all federal ministries, divisions, and provincial governments to take necessary precautions.

The notice highlights that network traffic over Wi-Fi can easily be intercepted, and router updates can redirect internet traffic to unsecured locations. Files and directories can also be easily shared through Wi-Fi networks, posing a significant security risk.

The Cabinet Division has advised users to ensure that Wi-Fi passwords are complex, guest networks are disabled, and the Wi-Fi name or ID remains hidden to safeguard sensitive data.
