During his first term, US President Donald Trump announced a new moon mission with the goal of enhancing America’s greatness. The US space agency NASA was set to send the Artemis Moon landing mission in 2025, but now this goal seems increasingly distant.
Experts in the US had discussed establishing a permanent base on the moon for future missions, but it appears that plans may have been overly ambitious and preparations are not progressing as expected.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson mentioned delays in the Artemis program due to various reasons and indicated that the timeline for the moon mission may need to be extended.
The US last sent astronauts to the moon in 1972, and no American administration has been able to send another mission to the moon in the 52 years since.
