What lengths can a husband go to in order to reconcile with his angry wife? In China, one man chose a method that is truly astonishing.
This man cycled 4,400 kilometers over 100 days to win back his angry wife.
Zhao, from Jiangsu Province, married Li in 2007. However, two years ago, due to personal differences, his wife moved out. According to Zhao, “There was no serious problem between us; we both were just stubborn and separated, but we kept in touch to get back together.”
Li, his wife, explained, “He wanted us to reunite, and jokingly, I told him he would have to go all the way to Lhasa. If he cycled there, I would make up with him.”
She added, “The truth is, I said this as a joke, and I didn’t expect him to actually do it.”
Zhao began his journey on July 28th from Nanjing city and successfully covered 4,400 kilometers by bike over 100 days, reaching Lhasa on October 28th. During his journey, he suffered two heat strokes.
After Zhao became ill the second time, his wife went to the hospital and urged him to stop the journey. But Zhao refused, determined to complete the trip and prove his resolve.
After his recovery, his wife joined him, and together they reached Lhasa on October 28th, where they publicly announced their reconciliation at a ceremony.
Zhao is now planning to cycle to Nepal and Europe.
