Pakistan star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife Ansha Afridi have welcomed their first child. The couple named their baby boy Aliyar. The happy news was shared by the Afridi family on social media, where fans and well-wishers from all over the world congratulated. The birth of their son marks a significant moment for the cricketing family.
Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Khan Afridi, who is Shaheen’s father-in-law, became a grandfather for the first time. Back in July, there were reports that Shaheen and Ansha were expecting their first child. Pakistan’s red-ball coach Jason Gillespie has spoken about reports that the pacer could miss the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh due to the impending new arrival.
“Shaheen may miss the Bangaladesh Test matches due to the birth. We can give him [some] rest if he wants to stay with his wife until then,” Gillespie said at the time. Pakistan is playing a two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi as the first Test began on 21 August.
