According to railway authorities, Pakistan Railways has announced the closure of all railway offices across the country on July 17 to coincide with the 10th day of Muharram.
According to the announcement, the decision to close railway offices on the day was taken to honor the significance of 10th of Muharram, a day of mourning and reflection for the Muslim community. The decision will apply to all railway reservation offices, officials said.
Railway officials stressed that after July 17, all railway reservation offices and other facilities will resume normal operations without any disruption.
“We have decided to keep all railway offices closed on July 17 in view of the auspicious occasion of 10th Muharram,” officials said, stressing the temporary nature of the shutdown.
The aim of this decision is to allow rail staff to observe the day in accordance with religious traditions, while ensuring that services remain intact before and after the designated closure date.
The federal government has declared public holidays on the 9th (Tuesday) and 10th (Wednesday) of Muharram. The 9th day of Muharram is to be marked on 16th July while the 10th day of Muharram is to be marked on 17th July.
