Inflation rose for two straight weeks, with the annual rate rising 0.1% to 23.33%, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
This affected some major commodities.
For example, the price of live chicken rose by Rs 53 per kg to Rs 369 per kg. The price of 390 grams of milk powder has also increased by Rs 56 from Rs 928 to Rs 984. Similarly, fresh milk went through a hike of Rs 2 per kg, costing up to Rs 139 on average.
Among other things like legumes. Chickpea dal rose by Rs 11 per kg to average only Rs 330.
Moong dal and Masoor daal both increased by Rs 4 per kg. Moreover, the price of sugar has gone up by Rs 1 per kilo, bringing it to Rs 146 on an average.
Other commodities such as firewood, rice, household LPG cylinders and meat also experienced price increases.
Despite these increases, some relief was seen in tomato prices, which declined by Rs 40 per kg. Additionally, bananas fell by Rs 4 per dozen and a 20 kg bag of flour saw a reduction of Rs 36.
