England cricket team managing director Rob Key has praised pacer James Anderson’s decision to retire from Test cricket.
Anderson marked the end of an era when he announced his retirement from Test cricket after the first game of the series against the West Indies at Lord’s in July. As it all began at Lord’s in 2003, it came to a poetic conclusion, and just as he completed his journey there two days shy of his 42nd birthday, wearing his 188th England cap.
With 700 Test wickets to his name, Anderson has become a household name in cricket folklore, trailing only legends like Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne on the list.
Reflecting on the decision, Robert Key shared his discussion with head coach Brendon McCullum, who traveled to England for an important interview with Anderson. The discussion, led by McCullum, was crucial, with Anderson and the team recognizing the need to embrace a change of guard.
