LAHORE – National cricket team captain Babar Azam on Monday expressed hope that the Green Shirts will win the T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies next month.
“We have also taken trophies in the past and I hope we will come back with trophies,” Babar said at a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium here.
He believes that every player in the team will give 100 percent in the World Cup.
“Our focus is on the trophy. “Every player is focused on winning.”
He said all the players were fit. Haris Rauf is getting better, Babar said he didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.
He said the team’s cohesion is good and every player practices with enthusiasm.
Answering a question about wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris, Babar said that he will not do well in the PSL (Pakistan Super League).
Better players join the team. In the highest order, Rizwan, Fakhar and Saim Ayub performed well. So there is no place for Harris in the top order, the boss said.
As for Amir Jamal, he said it will be better.
He said that the results of Test matches cannot be compared to T20 cricket. “We made best decision for our team.”
