Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday vowed to give exemplary punishment to the culprits behind the Bisham incident – a heinous suicide attack that claimed the lives of at least six people, including five Chinese nationals – on March 26.
Addressing a gathering of Chinese workers at the power project site, Prime Minister Sharif condemned the cowardly act that resulted in the loss of five Chinese nationals and one local worker.
He stressed that these shameful actions were aimed at disrupting the strong bond between Pakistan and China, describing the attack as an attack on the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
The Prime Minister also ensured robust security arrangements for Chinese nationals working on the Dasu Hydropower Project, as well as throughout the country.
Accompanied by Federal Ministers Amir Muqam and Attaullah Tarar and WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Sajjad Ghani, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the Chinese community and assured them of the Government’s unwavering commitment to their security.
Terming the attack as the work of Pakistan’s enemies, Prime Minister Sharif stressed the need for decisive action against those trying to undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and bilateral relations.

In response, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong acknowledged the Prime Minister’s visit to the embassy and thanked the Pakistani government and people for their solidarity. He reiterated China’s determination to strengthen strategic partnership with Pakistan.
Prime Minister Sharif revealed that a joint investigation team was quickly formed after the incident, the report of which is forthcoming. He confirmed the willingness of the government to quickly implement the recommendations of the commission of inquiry.
Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized the importance of Pak-China friendship and said cooperation will continue to flourish undeterred by the actions of critics.
The gathering ended with a 30-second silence in memory of the victims of the tragic event.
