RAWALPINDI — Pakistan’s security forces killed 15 terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations in Balochistan on March 5, the military’s media wing said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the militants were linked to what it described as Indian-backed groups operating in the region.
The first intelligence-based operation was conducted in Harnai District after security forces received information about the presence of militants. Troops engaged a hideout during the operation, leading to an intense exchange of fire in which 12 militants were killed.
In a separate operation in Basima, security forces tracked the presence of militants associated with Fitna al Hindustan. During the firefight, three militants were killed, the statement added.
Security officials said weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the militants, who were allegedly involved in several terrorist activities.
The ISPR said sanitisation operations are ongoing to ensure no other militants remain in the area.
The military added that Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under the national security initiative “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, will continue to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism in the country.
